Education, Its Role and Reality

I am sure that all of us know how important the education is, indeed. Yes, education has an important role for our nation development. Nowadays, the role of education is quite important not only for our nation or our country, but also for each person (as individual necessary). Why do I say such those words? Exactly we realize that most of employee recruitment for job vacancy now (for example) makes education as the first priority of its requirement.  From education, the applicant of that job will be known their skill or ability whether they are proper to fill that job or not. So, education will also decide the prosperity of both social and individual living.

Education will decide where will our country go, and it will effect how the world will view and appreciate us.  Meanwhile, the progress of education it self is decided by all of its stakeholders, included the leader of each institution (Leader of University or Headmaster), lecturer or teacher, society, students, and the most important is government.

Why government is the most important for the progress of education? Right, government seems like a nucleus of a cell. It coordinates all of activities and work system of each part of cell it self. Government is one that makes policy for all aspects in this country, included education. Government takes important role in every aspects of education, especially fund for developing education it self, and giving motivation to the society for their aware about how important the education for them..

But, where is our education face?

In the fact, our education condition actually stays in big problem. Why? Look at the condition in little town or remote area, there are many teenager who should quit from their school because the fund. Their right to get proper education and life are seized by their economical condition. It’s the same with the story of Enong in a novel titled Padang Bulan that written by Andrea Hirata. Enong is a student in Belitong Island who had to lose her education even before she finished her study in Elementary School because the economic condition of her family was getting worse after her father passed away. Was there anyone taking care to her? No one..! Even she had to look for a job to Jakarta to fulfill her family necessary. And what a pity she was, without any diploma, skill, and education background, exactly she couldn’t get any job, and finally her destiny forced her to do very hard work ; lead worker (pendulang timah) in her 14^th.

It can’t be denied that there are lot’s of children in our surrounding who face the same condition with Enong, included many children in my own village (Curahtulis, Tongas, Probolinggo). Unfortunately, there’s no one care about them, and the government as if had never had a time to take care to them.. There are so many children who just can finish their education in Elementary School, and after that they have to look for a job as hard worker. Take a pity !!. Yes we know that the government has provided scholarship for them who have achievement and come from unlucky family, but it’s still not enough, those scholarship can't be spread well. And how about them who really need education (can’t show their achievement) that both of them and their family are blind of information? There are neglected !!!

So guys, if we have lived in good condition and comfortable zone, let’s see our relative who lack of education, live in poverty and sadness that seems never found its end. Let’s share a little part of our fortune, knowledge and our care to them, in order they can also feel how beautiful live in this globalization era that full of knowledge and high technology… The future of our nation is in our hands.. Through education, let’s reach our good future.. Keep on fire…. !!! JJ
